Enjoying a bit of Fall

I almost forgot my user name & password. Wow it's been awhile since I checked in with you all. I've missed you! I have been such a busy bee knitter here. Teaching up at my lys twice a week has been such a blast & productive. I have a few new FO's to share. (One of my fellow Thursday Knit Nighter's likes to ask what it is I've finished this week. Poor thing then feels compelled to tell me she got a few rows done while waiting on her hubbies blood transfusion. I am always duly impressed, lol. Here's to you Marsha!)

"Beauty & the Bead" Shawl
Specs: Made this one up & added Nicky Epstein's edging from her book Knitting On the Edge, 1 skein Farmhouse yarns Lumpy Bumpy in Fall Flowers (MC), 1/2 skein Shepherd's Shades Bulky in Brown. You cast on 3 sts, work until you've used up a ball of Lumpy, & knit on the edging while incorporating the shawl's live stitches. This means there are only 9 sts to cast off at the end. I had fun designing this & hunting down the perfect edging. I worked several variations for the edge before I found the right one to showcase my yarns.(Had an Aha! moment when I rememberered the library had Epstein's book.) Made it in 2 days & blocked this puppy like crazy. I Love Love Love it! My go to shoulder warmer.

Lace Leaf Scarf
Here's an ancient UFO that I set aside 3 summers ago because I couldn't do the kitchener. Finished it up Thursday.

Specs: Lace Leaf Scarf from VK Spr/Sum 2005, 3 skeins Debbie Bliss Baby Cashmerino, 3 yrs to make, lol.

Shalom
I like the soft hand of this yarn, love the color, but not too keen on the pattern results. I wish I'd taken a few rows out of each yoke repeat set & made the armholes smaller than they called for. It fit great in the yoke (although too small in the body area) before I blocked it. Now it just looks a bit sloppy & baggy. I think I'm going to hand sew up the arm pits a bit & then I think I'll like it better.

Specs: 4 skeins Ironstone Yarns Color Changes. See my Ravelry page to see specifics. They elude me right at the moment.

I have decided to pull an UFO from my basket each time I complete a newer project. This way all those oldies can be a future FO too. My knitting's come a long way in 5 years & some of the UFO's crack me up now when I realize what the reason was that I couldn't finish them up before. I'm still plugging along on my CPH 2. It needs seaming, ribbed bands stitched on, & a zipper. Almost ready for Rhinebeck. I've also completed a pair of felted clogs for my hubby & just need to photo them when they are dry. Plus Talia has been finished since Sept. 1st, but I need to block it. Hopefully this weekend

I'll be checking all your blogs now. Later.

I knew even though you weren't in blog land that you were busy as a bee. What I didn't expect was to see the shawl and Leaf Lace. Grteat job! Smart of you to finsh an old FO with a new one. Alternating is definitely a way to get through those one we left oh so many moons ago. I absolutely love the Shalom yarn coloring. Beautiful. I agree you should hand see the pits. Still gorgeous though.

Whoa! That's a lot of FOs. Shalom looks so purty. I had huge armpits on the Cloud Bolero and sewing them up made all the difference. What a fabulous shawl you designed! I love the colors. Goo dplan to tackle an old UFO for every new thing you finish/start.

Clearly you need to post more often! I love Shalom, the blue stripes are rockin. The armholes look fine from here but I know what it's like when something is bugging you. The Lace Leaf scarf is gorgeous and the shawl is very cool. Who knows what other treasures are lurking in your UFO pile.
