Happy with the Feet

Here's my second SOS '08 sock, Happy Feet started on Tues. night (7/08/08). It's Plymouth Yarn Co.'s Happy Feet sock yarn in color #9. I made the Basic Sock from the Happy Feet Basic & Ribbed Socks 1309 pattern leaflet. I'm making this pair as a store sample for my lys, Knit N Purl. If I was to make this pattern for myself, I'd knit the upper sock to 8" instead of the called for 6. I had more than enough yarn left on the skein to have done so. Besides that, the pattern is a terrific "basic vanilla" sock.

I've always turned my nose up at this yarn on the hank. It wasn't that the price was bad (it's cheap in fact.) More that it looked cheesey; like a bad fake for hand dyed yarn. I would never have bought this yarn on my own. I'll now eat crow here. This yarn is deliciously soft & lofty. The sock feels like cashmere, & I want a pair for winter lounging. The zig zag effect on the yarn is pretty cool to boot.

The socks turned out great. I love the wild candy colors. I've turned my nose up at this yarn for the same reason. I better get my yarn snobbery in check.

My what Happy Feet you have! I love the colors and you whipped them babies out fast. Is this the yarn/pattern being used for the classes? I want some happy feet in that color. :-)

The zig zagging on the foot is pretty nifty. Are you making it a partner? Most of the sock samples at my lys are singletons.
